Our Nataliya short wedding dress on the cover of the October/November issue of Cosmopolitan Bride Magazine
This season Tobi Hannah is inspired by several works of British artist and sculptor, Jeff Lowe.
Jeff Lowe’s belief that great pieces of art are when they are unfamiliar and that you don’t make art out of knowing but rather of not knowing led Tobi Hannah through a great journey of incorporating the structures and shapes of his works into the collection without compromising the female form or her signature style.
The result is feminine dresses with subtle hints of structure which is particularly perceptible on the Josephine, Audrey and Mary Beth dresses

Unlike the reports that short wedding dresses have been ‘on trend’ for the last few bridal seasons, here at Tobi Hannah we would like to reassure you that it will not go ‘off trend’ any time soon if we have anything to do with it!
It is refreshing to see that no longer are short wedding dresses considered an odd choice for a wedding dress
I feel the tradition that comes with wearing a long wedding dress is dated, except of course in special religious circumstances or specific themed weddings.
I am not here to make a direct comparison between short wedding dresses and long wedding dresses, I just believe there are so many situtations where a short wedding dress is more appropriate than a long wedding dress
Brides to be need to realise that you really don’t have to wear a long dress with an even longer train that spans back 6 feet from your body before you are acceptable as a bride
I found some awesome pictures of long wedding dresses that really made me determined to keep the short wedding dress dream alive!
Dear bride to be, there is such a thing as OTT you know?
WOW – Can you even guess how long this train is???
Me Neither
Ahh well…to each their own!
Now back to short wedding dress heaven!

Last year, a large proportion of my bespoke brides came to see me with their mothers or mother figure. Nearly every time, the mother was not convinced about the bride to be’s decision to go for a short wedding dress, particularly for a church wedding.
That in mind, I have developed the perfect solution, I call it…”the mummy pleaser” – i really should copyright that phrase!
Meet Penelope and Olga (images below) – the mummy pleasers from the Tobi Hannah 2012 short wedding dress collection
The ruffle belt on each short wedding dress comes with an interchangeable length. What’s more there are two fabric options, the Penelope short wedding dress has a heavier waffle jacquard fabric for a winter wedding, or a more textured look and the olga short wedding dress is made from a very lightweight luxurious silk taffeta which screams..BEACH WEDDING
<—— So mummy can go from looking like this
However if mummy isn’t an issue, and you just want a short wedding dress, the long train is optional and prices start from just £750. All our short wedding dresses are manufactured here in London and delivered within 9 weeks

The Tobi Hannah Spring 2012 collection of short wedding dresses and tea length wedding dresses is inspired by the Youth of the 60′s and the collection actually owes it’s name to the Youthquake Movement
What I’d like to share today is a bit about the inspiration for one of the short wedding dresses in the collection. It comes from the film Factory Girl. I absolutely love this film, I have watched it a lot! I watched it again around the time i was looking for inspiration for the 2012 short wedding dress collection. Edie Sedgwick is an ultimate muse and the movie Factory Girl is simply amazing! Anyone interested in Fashion or Art should watch this movie, as it will inspire! She will Inspire!
In my favourite scene from this film, Sienna Miller, who plays Edie Sedgwick is wearing the lace 60′s lace short dress shown above.
I found this video clip which shows Sienna dancing effortlessly in the dress.
This then inspired me to sketch out a pattern for a vintage looking guipure lace similar to the one in the scene. I got the lace made up by our amazing fabric manufacturer in France and when it arrived i was really pleased. It was evident that I was going to make a 60′s style shift wedding dress from this very delicate guipure lace. This is the story of how the Tobi Hannah ‘Edith’ short wedding dress came to life.
The Edith shift wedding dress is absolutely perfect for a registry wedding, a small ceremony or as a second wedding dress for the reception.
Edie Sedgwick defined effortless but edgy mod glamour. To achieve the Edie Sedgwick look, the key is pairing the Tobi Hannah Edith shift wedding dress with bold long dangling earrings,a beehive held in place by a silk scarf or hair tie and pair of heels.

Nothing says Old Hollywood like Audrey Hepburn’s perfectly pretty face. Her delicate features embody an era that continues to inspire brides more than 60 years on! Most notably, Audrey Hepburn’s short wedding dress in Funny Face – It is on my top five list of favourite vintage short wedding dresses.
I absolutely love the image below as it shows off arguably one of the most talked about short wedding dresses of that era.

Audrey Hepburn Short Wedding Dress
The Amaze short wedding dress from the Tobi Hannah Spring 2012 Bridal collection is a modern take on the short wedding dress worn by Audrey in the movie and is a brilliant idea for brides looking to achieve the perfect Audrey wedding look.
An important aspect of this short wedding dress is infact the boat neckline. It is especially good for brides with narrower shoulders or longer necks as it draws attention to a very feminine and sensuous part of the female body without the risk of being too revealing.
Accessorising options for the Amaze short wedding dress are limitless – a petticoat for a fuller skirt, a dramatic head piece and if you dare… stilettos.
